Soft Architecture: Textile and Technologies of Living
Miami Fiber Triennial 2026 Satellite Exhibition
Soft Architecture: Textile and Technologies of Living examines domesticity as something the body learns to inhabit. Long before we understand space intellectually, we are shaped by it physically—through routines, gestures, objects, and repeated forms of care.
The exhibition focuses on familiar forms tied to the routines of everyday life—a lamp, a chair, a table, a blanket—and considers how these objects quietly structure comfort, intimacy, and social relations over time.
Here, textile appears not simply as material, but as physical and emotional structures. Soft surfaces register touch, use, repetition, and time, revealing the home as more than shelter: a space where behaviors are conditioned–habits are formed, roles are learned, and daily life is continuously negotiated.
Presented as part of the Miami Fiber Triennial 2026, Soft Architecture considers how domestic space is shaped through objects, routines, and repeated forms of use over time.
Featuring works by Alina Rodríguez-Rojo, Marco Caridad, Rebeca Lopera, Aurora Molina, Evelyn Politzer, Melina Tsalikis, and Marilyn Valiente. Curated by Sophie Bonet.
